Straight Talk

One thing to check first.

Make sure you hold the rights. If a publisher printed your book, your contract may control who can issue an ebook. Check before you start.

We are not lawyers, so we can’t advise on rights. We can tell you what to look for and what to ask.

Questions

Good to know.

Can you make an ebook from a printed book?

Yes. We scan the pages, run text recognition, then proofread and format it so it reads properly on e-readers and phones. If you also have the original files, it is faster and usually less expensive.

What is the difference between a scan and an ebook?

A scan is a picture of each page. It cannot reflow, change text size, or be searched. A proper ebook is real text that adapts to the reader’s screen, with chapters and navigation.

Do I need to own the rights to my book?

Yes. You need to own the rights to the book, or have permission from whoever does, before it is published as an ebook. If your publisher holds the rights, check your contract first. We are designers and builders, not lawyers, so we cannot advise on rights.

What file formats do you deliver?

EPUB, the standard ebook format that most stores and e-readers accept, and we can prepare other versions on request. Tell us where you plan to sell or share the book and we will advise on the right files.

Can you help me sell it?

We prepare the files and can explain how the main stores work. Publishing and selling remain your accounts and your decisions, so you stay in control and keep what you earn.

Will you return my printed copy?

Yes. Your original comes back to you.
